“Self-rejection is the main problem. You are never going to be good enough…”

LJ blog self rejection 9-11-09“You are never going to be good enough for yourself when the idea of perfection is completely wrong. It’s a false concept; it’s not even real. But you believe it. Not being perfect, you reject yourself, and the level of self-rejection depends upon how strong the adults were in breaking your integrity.” (don Miguel Ruiz, Mastery of Love)

I really like this because when you start to think about all the concerns you have around doing the right thing, doing the thing that “dad and mom” want you to do, etc etc, is it FOR YOU? Make it about YOU. The choices you are making – make them for yourself, not for others. When I’m in awareness, I ask myself, is this what I really want? Or is it something someone else wants? Keeping your business together, or your marriage together – whatever the situation. Make it about you. “Take your life and enjoy it.” TAKE – means you own it.

I respect your choices. They are yours. They are you. You know what’s best for you. Do you respect your choices?

“Our greatest glory is not in never failing, but in rising every time we fall.” -Confucius

Sometimes I think we’re so worried about “failing” that we miss the important parts of life. Failing is part of it all. And rising every time is the other part. Each part brings with it great lessons. In failing, we learn to be humble. We learn what not to do next time. We learn to be aware and we learn that we are responsible for our choices. In rising, we learn that we will be okay every time we fail because we will rise again. And we learn that life has it’s ups and downs, and it’s more important what we do with them, than the fact that they are happening. Always do your best, in any moment, with what you have. I’ve learned to lighten up about “failing” and by getting my ego out of the way, it can actually be very rewarding!

The next time you feel like you’ve “failed,” ask yourself what you are learning. Practice awareness, without judgment. And lighted up about it!
